Long before the Algeria Travel Alliance existed, there was a question: How can travelers experience the real Algeria—not just its famous landmarks, but the people, traditions, and hidden places that give every region its identity? The answer wasn’t found in an office. It was found on the road.
During the global travel shutdown, Abdennour Mazoz set out on an extraordinary expedition across Algeria. Over thousands of kilometres, he traveled from Mediterranean cities to Saharan oases, from Roman ruins to remote mountain villages, meeting the people whose knowledge and hospitality define each destination.
Along the way, he discovered something remarkable. Across Algeria, exceptional guides, family-run guesthouses, artisans, and local travel specialists were creating unforgettable experiences—but often in isolation, without a national network connecting their expertise.
That journey inspired a new vision: an alliance where regional specialists could work together, share standards, and present Algeria to the world through authentic local knowledge rather than generic tourism.
