Itineraries

Day 1

The Desert's Warm Embrace

Your adventure begins as you land in Djanet, where the air itself whispers of ancient journeys. We'll welcome you with traditional tea before venturing toward Tiseteka (Tin Essou). As the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in fiery hues, we'll settle into our first camp. Around the crackling fire, under a blanket of stars, you'll taste your first Saharan dinner while learning about the rock art sites that await tomorrow.

Day 2

First Contact with the Red Tadrart

After a sunrise breakfast, we journey deeper into the Tadrart Rouge, where the sands blush crimson under the morning light. Our destination is Mirkoundi, one of the Tassili's most significant archaeological sites. Here, your guide will help you decipher stories etched in stone thousands of years ago - scenes of ancient herds, hunters, and mysterious rituals that come alive in the desert silence.

Day 3

The Stone Camel of Moul-Naga

Today's light trek takes us to Moul-Naga's iconic "Stone Camel" formation. As we walk through wadis and canyons, each turn reveals new panels of ancient art. Some show graceful antelopes, others depict mysterious shamanic figures. The day ends at a secluded campsite where the only sounds are the crackling fire and perhaps the distant melody of a Tuareg imzad.

Day 4

Rock Art Galleries of In-Tihak

A thrilling 4x4 ride through dramatic gorges brings us to In-Tihak's hidden galleries. Here, the rock art is exceptionally preserved - vivid paintings from the Bovidian period showing daily life from millennia past. After a picnic lunch amidst these open-air museums, we continue to In-Zaouatene to admire large-scale engravings of giraffes and elephants that once roamed this green Sahara.

Day 5

Tin-Merzouga's Golden Light

We awaken in Tin-Merzouga, where the dunes seem to absorb every hue of the rising sun. Today is for immersion - climbing golden ridges, discovering more ancient art, and witnessing a sunset that transforms the desert into a palette of fire. As darkness falls, we share a special farewell dinner under what might be the brightest stars you've ever seen.

Day 6

Tighergert's Whispering Rocks

Our journey continues to Tighergert, known as "The Crying Rock" for the way wind sings through its formations. We'll explore its labyrinthine passages and hidden chambers before setting up our final desert camp. This last night in the deep Sahara is perfect for reflection and absorbing the desert's profound peace.

Day 7

Return to Civilization

After a final sunrise breakfast in the dunes, we return to Djanet. The contrast is striking - from absolute silence to the vibrant energy of the local market. You'll have time to shop for souvenirs before checking into Hôtel Les Ambassadeurs for a well-deserved hot shower and comfortable bed.

Day 8

The ideal time for this expedition is from October to April. During these months, daytime temperatures are pleasant for exploration, and the nights are cool but comfortable for camping.

This is a moderate-level adventure. It involves light trekking on sandy and rocky terrain and long drives in 4x4 vehicles on uneven desert tracks. A general level of fitness and mobility is recommended, but it is suitable for most active travelers.

You will stay in a traditional desert bivouac (camp). We provide sturdy tents, comfortable sleeping mattresses, and warm blankets. Facilities are basic but functional, offering an authentic and immersive Saharan experience. One night is spent in a standard hotel in Djanet for a comfortable break.

Yes. All meals are included for the entire duration of the tour, from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on Day 8. This includes plentiful, freshly prepared meals. Bottled water is provided throughout the entire journey to ensure you stay hydrated.

Washing: While water is precious, we provide enough for basic washing (face, hands). Showers are not available during the camping nights due to water conservation in the fragile desert environment. The hotel night in Djanet offers a full shower.

Toilets: We set up simple, private toilet tents at each campsite. This is a traditional dry toilet system, which is the most practical and environmentally responsible solution in the remote desert.
